FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 11, 2009

WHAT:
Pile and sheet pile driving is associated with people mover foundation and baggage tunnel construction. The Sacramento County Airport System will provide earplugs along the walkway leading to the construction site to reduce the inconvenience to the public.

This pile driving is part of the people mover passenger conveyance system foundation construction. Two overhead people movers will transport passengers between the transfer level of the new, centrally located terminal and the new airside concourse.

Sheet piles will shore newly excavated portions of tunnel walls. The completed tunnel will enable airline baggage handlers to quickly
transport baggage between the basement-level baggage make-up room and aircraft.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution while driving on airport roads and not exceed posted speed limits. Traffic lanes have been reduced from four to three in the immediate area during pile driving.

WHEN:
June 15-17, 2009 - Pile driving
June 17-25, 2009 - Sheet pile driving
*Note: all construction dates are subject to weather delay.
